I remember Hip Hop made me feel… free.
It was music that actually spoke
to youth singing along with Biz Markie.
Hip Hop like Rakim once said, “ain’t no joke.”
The party was what it used to be about.
MCs had go be able to rock mics
and move a live crowd- or they got thrown out!
Real voices back then; not auto-tuned sikes.
Thank the Hip Hop gods for innovators
that push envelopes and challenge their peers
to be trailblazers not imitators.
Voices of resistance are needed here!
Some artists will play requests asked of them.
But… I’d settle for a party anthem!
