This page is where I will be posting about my spoken word band, The Funky Wordsmyths ensemble. We performed what we called, “hard hittin’ blak poetry n muzik.” Much in the spirit of the Last Poets, Gil-Scot Heron, and my mentor Oscar Brown Jr., the Funky Wordsmyths presented socially conscious poetry. The band performed from the early 90s into the early 2000s. The page will include: background on the band, members, featured artist, promotional materials, and yes, poetry and music!
